Both AC Milan and Roma earned wins in their respective midweek European fixtures, but it was far from comfortable for the Rossoneri and the Giallorossi.
For Milan, they were given a scare at home as Croatian side Riejka fought back from 2-0 down to try to snatch an equalizer, only for youngster Patrick Cutrone to score the match winner.
Meanwhile, Roma went 2-0 up, but Qarabag grabbed their first ever Champions League goal to make it 2-1. Whilst the Lupi hung on to win 2-1, it nonetheless caused some nervy moments for the visitors.
In any case, both are tied on points, but of the two managers, it’s Vincenzo Montella who arguably has more pressure on him at the moment. Milan ended up losing 2-0 to Sampdoria at the weekend and there are now rumors that he has this game, plus the Derby della Madonnina to turn things around or could face being sacked.
Meanwhile, this match will represent a real challenge for Roma, who were defeated by Inter earlier this season. The Lupi are coming into this fixture with a whole spate of injuries, with Diego Perotti, Gregoire Defrel and Patrik Schick all not available for this fixture.
Milan are still struggling to keep things tight in defense, despite the addition of Leonardo Bonucci, and Edin Dzeko has netted five goals in his last six appearances for Roma. He certainly will be a handful for the Rossoneri’s back line, who have looked less than solid as of late.
